The Ladies International Grand Prix started on the initiative of the European Champion Ylva Jansson from Sweden. The first competition took place in Uppsala, Sweden in September 1988 with participants from England, Scotland, Ireland, Germany and Sweden.
Since then the competition has been arranged every year with a growing number of shooters and nations.
The purpose is to unite experienced Olympic Skeet shooters with newcomers to the sport in a high quality competition with a friendly atmosphere.
The 20th Ladies International Grand Prix took place from September 21-23, 2017 in Austria on the Shootingpark Leobersdorf shooting grounds close to Vienna.

Following changes at the Olympic Games the ISSF have made rule changes to Olympic Skeet. These changes have been incorporated into The Ladies International Grand Prix since the 2013 competition in Madrid, Spain.
The format is as follows:-
Practice at Ranges
75 Target Competition with Finals One Class
Additional practice if ranges and time allows.
75 Target Ladies International Grand Prix Competion
with Flash Finals in Class A & B
All individual and team medals, trophies and prizes are decided on the results of Saturday’s completion. Where possible there will be token prizes for Friday’s competition.
Your Committee hopes that this format will give more flexibility to the competitors in both budget and time, whilst maintaining the quality of the competition.
